Minecraft 1.8.8, OBJ files and more!

It has been a while since we last updated MCreator and there had to be an update soon. Well it isn't there yet but will be soon so we decided to do some hype around it and also tell you more about what is planned.

So the Minecraft Forge for the Minecraft 1.8.8 is here and we already started (and almost finished) updating MCreator to the 1.8.8 version of Minecraft. Some users have been asking me lately if it will be possible to update their 1.8 mods to 1.8.8 and the answer is YES! It will be the matter of exporting your mod into mcr file from 1.8 MCreator and importing it into new MCreator. We have made new 64 bit edition of MCreator which runs much fatser and smoother on 64 bit computers of course. So why is the update not here yet?

New MCreator detects the architecture of the system and uses 64 bit JVM if possible

There are two reasons. The first one is that Minecraft Forge beta is still very beta and is not intended to be used for production yet. As soon as they release stable version or at least something close to it, we will release MCreator. While this is happening, we will try to fix some texture issues with blocks and custom model and add importing of 3D OBJ model files into MCreator! Yes, new forge supports this and why shouldn't we support it too? This will bring a bunch of new options into the MCreator. We probably won't be fixing all the GUI issues just yet as they are quite complex but we will try to do this as soon as possible to and for MCreator for Minecraft 1.8 and 1.7.10 too (if possible of course). And there goes the second reason for the update delay. We have to implement what I said just before. And as we will do this while waiting for the forge, this shouldn't cause any delays.

This is all for now, stay tuned for more informations and also check our blog for more news about the update and for the sneek peek of the OBJ imporing after we manage to get it working!

PS: Did you notice that we improved mobile site for MCreator? If yes, tell us if you like it :)
